With a commitment to compassion, I offer holistic, trauma informed, person-centered counselling services to children, youth, young adults, parents and expectant parents. My approach considers the essential role of the nervous system and is grounded in attachment theory, neuroscience, mindfulness, expressive arts and play therapy.
I have training in a variety of approaches including: holistic expressive play therapy, infant and perinatal /postpartum mental health, body-centered and attachment-based therapies, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and mindful self-compassion. Sessions are tailored to your unique needs and concerns. Together we will determine the therapeutic approach that best suits your goals.
I have special interest and expertise in supporting clients with:
Grief and loss
Birth Trauma Healing
Anxiety /depression in pregnancy or postpartum
Miscarriage and loss
During parent consultations I aim to support parents to make sense of the challenges their child is experiencing and adapt their parenting to the unique needs of their child. In turn, parents increase their ability to co-regulate with their child, strengthen their child's ability to self-regulate, experience more ease in their relationship with their child and ultimately support their child to thrive.
Parent consultations may be offered in combination with counselling for your child or youth, or as a service on its own. When we connect on the phone to discuss services, we can explore these options.
Pregnancy & Postpartum
Expectant and new parents often question their experiences, and abilities and can feel isolated as they navigate opinions, social constructs, and choices. Accessing counselling during this stage of life can create a space for you to explore your values, process your experience, and uncover what you need to feel nourished and fulfilled as you move forward on your journey.
